11-06-2015 Addressing the need for safer mooring systems in a constantly developing industry

As ship sizes continue to increase and mooring operations hence become more complicated and dangerous, safer and more efficient moorings systems are needed to comply. In today’s market there is huge potential in developing safer systems for a field of operation currently defined by ‘creative’ on-the-spot-solutions with high injury rates among ships’ crews to follow.
On 9 June Dept. Manager Kristian Holten Møller from OSK-ShipTech A/S was guest speaker at the UN's IMO 95th session of the Maritime Safety Committee in London. Together with Steen Nielsen from the Danish Maritime Authorities (DMA), he gave a speech on the topic of Safe Mooring Systems and Innovative Mooring Solutions. IMO, the International Maritime Organization, is the United Nations' specialised agency responsible for safety and security in the shipping industry.


08-06-2015 MF Samsø gets its new royal name
On 6 June the MF Samsø was named after Her Royal Highness Princess Isabella. The young princess named the ferry herself at a ceremony on Samsø. The ferry is designed by OSK-ShipTech A/S and is the first domestic LNG ferry in Denmark - designed and built to reflect the green philosophy and sustainable community of Samsø. Congratulations on the new royal name!

23-04-2015 OSK-ShipTech A/S and Fjord Line A/S wins the prestigious SHIPPAX AWARD 2014

At the ShipPax Ferry Shipping Conference 2015 held in Rotterdam 21-23 April, OSK-ShipTech A/S and Fjord Line A/S received the prestigious SHIPPAX AWARD 2014 for the spectacular conversion of m/v OSLOFJORD into a modern day ferry. This conversion and modernisation project has been managed by OSK-ShipTech A/S, who has also supplied the naval architecture. The project was delivered on time and on budget – proving OSK-ShipTech A/S’ excellent project management skills. We have collaborated with Owner Fjord Line, Ship Yard STX and Falkum-Hansen Design from Oslo, who has designed the streamlined interior, resulting in a modern, comfortable passenger ferry with all amenities.

As of 1 April 2015, we have acquired consulting naval architects A/S Jørgen Petersen who has more than 40 years of experience in ship design and consulting in the marine industry. Adding their expertise within smaller passenger ferries and special vessels, the pooling of know-how of the two companies will further expand our client portfolio to cover the entire span of passenger vessels - large and small. The aim is to reinforce OSK-ShipTech's leading position within the development and implementation of alternative propulsion systems and expand the implementation from smaller to larger vessels as the battery technology matures.

Through the community partnership Blue INNOship, OSK-ShipTech A/S will over the next four years be a part of a large Danish collaborative between the maritime industry, shipping companies, universities, GTS-institutes and national authorities. The partnership will be working on 14 green innovation projects in order to boost growth and create jobs in the maritime industry as well as develop energy efficient solutions and thereby reduce CO2 emissions.
