Open for Request for Participation: The tender for a new ferry for the island of Læsø is now open

Back in May 2017, OSK-ShipTech A/S signed the contract with Ferry Company Læsø who is on the lookout for a new ferry sailing the route to and from Frederikshaven in Denmark. After a series of preliminary studies and interviews with all stakeholders, the tender material for a new ferry for the route is now public and open for bidding. 

The role of OSK-ShipTech

OSK-ShipTech will be in charge of exterior and interior design, technical solutions, specifications, and tendering. OSK-ShipTech will also be in charge of the negotiating procedure leading up to contracting. After signing of newbuilding contract, OSK-ShipTech will be advisors and consultants for the owners during drawing approval and building supervision up until the new ferry is delivered to Ferry Company Læsø.

Ferry details
Domestic ferry with open ro-ro car deck servicing the route between Læsø and Frederikshavn (DK).

Approximate main dimensions: Length overall 111.2 m and breadth 18.8 m.
Approximate car capacity: 188 passenger car units on main deck and hoistable decks.

Tender details
The tender procedure is a competitive procedure with negotiations. Following the tender, there will be negotiations with pre-qualified bidders also involving the sub-suppliers in order to determine the optimal propulsion system and hybrid solutions to be included in the final specification.

Following propulsion systems will be investigated and compared: Dual-Fuel (LNG/Diesel) Hybrid-Electric, Diesel-Hybrid-Electric propulsion (medium speed engines), and Diesel-Hybrid-Electric propulsion (high-speed engines).
